According to new data from the provincial government, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 60.5 per cent of cases in B.C. between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14 and they accounted for 68.5 per cent of hospitalizations in the province from Nov. 1 to Nov. 14.

Today’s data was released as a statement to the media.

Island Health

There are currently 430 active cases — 104 in North Island, 237 in Central Island and 89 in South Island — on Vancouver Island, according to the latest Island Health dashboard update.

Fifty-eight people are in hospital, 13 of whom are in critical care. There were no new deaths reported in the region Tuesday.

Over the past 24 hours, there were 698 tests performed for COVID-19 and 811 doses of vaccine administered on Vancouver Island. Of those doses, six were AstraZeneca, 632 were Moderna and 173 doses were Pfizer, according to the BCCDC’s dashboard.

A total of 1,403,666 vaccine doses — 666,839 of those are second doses while 43,426 are third doses or “other” doses — have been administered on Vancouver Island. This includes 34,872 doses of AstraZeneca, 425,145 doses of Moderna and 943,649 doses of Pfizer.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 11,873 cases reported, 115 deaths confirmed, 628 total hospitalizations, and 11,212 recoveries recorded in the Island Health region.

Editor’s note: The BCCDC lists the active case count for Vancouver Island at 513, which is 83 more active cases than what Island Health has reported. There are often discrepancies between the figures due to “differences in reporting” timeframes between the two agencies.
