British Columbia health officials Wednesday reported 291 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths, including one in the Island Health region, since their last update on March 29.

British Columbia health officials Wednesday reported 291 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths, including one in the Island Health region, since their last update on March 29.

The number of confirmed cases in B.C. is now at 356,252 while the death toll climbs to 2,996.

Of the new cases, 57 were in Island Health, 53 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 60 were in Fraser Health, 102 were in Interior Health, and 19 were in Northern Health.

There are currently 276 people in hospital across the province — 43 of whom are in intensive care. When it comes to the Island Health region, there are 43 people in hospital, according to the BCCDC’s dashboard, four of whom are in critical care.

The sole death recorded in Island Health over the past 24 hours brings the region’s death toll for 2022 to 100.
