British Columbia health officials in a statement to the media Tuesday reported an estimated 237 new COVID-19 cases since their last update on March 14.

Of the new cases, 34 are in the Island Health region. No new deaths were reported.

Currently, there are 345 individuals hospitalized with COVID, 50 of whom are in intensive care.

Health officials, in their statement, noted that the number of new cases as well as total cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh.

Unfortunately, health officials also provided absolutely no information regarding cases and hospitalizations by vaccination status in their release, citing a delayed “refresh” in BC Centre for Disease Control data.

Health officials have abandoned providing information about active case counts and real figures are likely higher due to limited access to testing.

The number of confirmed cases in B.C. is now an estimated 352,965 while the death toll remains unchanged at 2,946.
