A gravel truck rolled over on Bamfield Road which caused the road to be closed while an investigation was carried out.

Mike Owens, Port Alberni’s fire chief, says around 8:35 a.m. firefighters were called to Bamfield Road for a rollover approximately three kilometres south of Port Alberni.

“We dispatched engine four which is one of our units, road rescue capabilities,” Owens said. “We did end up having to extricate one patient and that patient is now in the care of B.C. ambulance.”

Owens did not have information on the condition of the person extricated from the gravel truck.

BC Emergency Health Services says it transported on patient to hospital.

He says the gravel truck was the only vehicle involved in the rollover, and he did not have information on a potential cause.

On Facebook, Port Alberni RCMP say the road was closed during the investigation, and the road was reopened around 3:40 p.m.
