The B.C. government has unveiled a match-making service that will unite parents working on the frontlines of the coronavirus response with childcare providers.

Parents who work in public health and health services, social services law enforcement, emergency response or are or are first responders and have a child under the age of five can apply to have their child placed in child care.

The service started on March 31.

Parents must fill out a new “parent” form and identify their need for urgent child care. Once parents have applied, a Child Care Resource Referral centre will reach out to them and connect their child to an available licensed care provider.

The program will remain in place indefinitely, according to the provincial government.
