B.C. reports four new COVID deaths, 388 people hospitalized

B.C. health officials are reporting four people died from COVID since the last update, and there are 388 people hospitalized with the virus in the province.

There are 52 people in intensive care.

In the province, there are 336 new confirmed cases of the virus, 53 of which are in Island Health.

In Interior Health there are 115 new confirmed cases, 65 in Fraser Health, 54 in Northern Health, 49 in Vancouver Coastal Health, and none in people who normally reside outside Canada.

There is one new COVID outbreak in a long-term care home, Yucalta Lodge in Island Health.

From March 2-8, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 18 per cent of cases. From Feb. 23 to March 8, they accounted for 29 per cent of hospitalizations.

There are 13.4 per cent of people eligible in the province who have not yet received two doses of a COVID vaccine, 9.3 per cent have received no doses.

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 11,393,545 doses of COVID vaccines.
