B.C. reports four deaths and 274 hospitalizations due to COVID

Health officials in B.C. are reporting four deaths due to COVID since the last update, two of the deaths were in Island Health.

Fraser Health and Interior Health also had one death in each health authority.

There are 274 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 35 are in intensive care.

There are 357 new confirmed cases in the province, 52 of which were in Island Health.

In Interior Health there were 103 new confirmed cases, 97 in Fraser Health, 82 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 23 in Northern Health, and zero in people who normally reside outside Canada.

In the statement, the province notes that today’s numbers are provisional due to a data refresh.

There are no new health care facility outbreaks.

From March 24-30, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 18 per cent of cases. From March 17-30, they accounted for 20.9 per cent of hospitalizations.

Of people eligible, 12.6 per cent of people have received fewer than two doses, with 9.1 per cent having received no doses of a vaccine.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,495,364 doses of COVID vaccines.
