B.C. reports 612 people hospitalized due to COVID; nine deaths

Health officials in B.C. say there are 612 people hospitalized with COVID in the province, 102 of whom are in intensive care.

There have been nine deaths since the last update, four in Vancouver Coastal Health, two in Interior Health and Northern Health, and one in Fraser Health.

Island Health reported no new deaths.

There are 597 new confirmed cases of COVID in the province, 113 of which are in Island Health.

Interior Health has 194 new cases, 118 in Fraser Health, 108 in Northern Health, 64 in Vancouver Coastal Health, and none in people who normally reside outside Canada.

There are no new health care facility outbreaks in the province.

In the province, there are 29 ongoing health care outbreaks, 15 of which are in Island Health.

From Feb. 16-22, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 20.6 per cent of cases. From Feb. 9-22, they accounted for 33.4 per cent of hospitalizations.

People not fully vaccinated account for 14 per cent of the population in B.C., with only 9.4 per cent having received no doses of a vaccine.

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 11,299,923 doses of COVID vaccines.
