British Columbia health officials are reporting 519 new cases of COVID-19 across the entire province with 78 linked to the Island Health region.

The Province notes however that the number of new cases isn’t entirely accurate due to data reconciliation from switching between two reporting systems after a system-wide downtime over the past weekend.

As a result, health officials say there are no new cases being reported in both Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health, outlining that the data reconciliation has resulted in retracting the total number of cases in both health authorities when compared to yesterday’s numbers.

In the statement released to the media, Dr. Bonnie Henry says that 787 are in hospital with 124 people in critical care as a result of the virus.

Outside of the data reconciliation in both Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health, health officials say that the new cases total 78 in the Island Health region, 287 in the Interior Health region, 145 in the Northern Health region and nine new cases for people who reside outside of Canada.

There have been two additional deaths related to the virus in the past 24 hours, none of which are located in the Island Health region. That brings the provincial death total over the course of the pandemic to 2,766.

Also as of Tuesday, the total number of cases in British Columbia over the course of the pandemic has reached 341,532.

As for the Province’s total vaccination program, B.C. has now administered a total of 11,158,060 doses of COVID-19 immunizations.

Health officials say that equates to first doses for 93.5 per cent of all eligible adult British Columbians, 93.1 per cent of all eligible people 12 and older and 90.4 per cent of eligible people five and older.

In addition, 90.9 per cent of all eligible adults have received their second dose, totalling 3,933,436 residents and 55.5 per cent of the population has received a third dose (2,400,288 people).

As for outbreaks, Island Health continues to have the most facilities of any health authority experiencing positive cases at the moment with 22 separate long-term care locations deploying safety protocols.

In addition on Tuesday, B.C. health officials outlined that the province would be phasing out capacity limits for organized gatherings and indoor seated events like Canucks games, as well as lift restrictions on dancing in bars and nightclubs.
