British Columbia health officials are reporting 269 new cases of COVID-19 for the entire province over the last 24 hours with 53 linked to the Island Health region.
In a statement released to the media, Dr. Bonnie Henry says that 258 are in hospital with 49 people in critical care as a result of the virus.
Since Tuesday’s numbers, there have been 51 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 49 in the Fraser Health region, 53 in the Island Health region, 73 in the Interior Health region, 43 in the Northern Health region and zero new cases for people who reside outside of Canada.
There has been one additional death related to the virus in the past 24 hours, which was not located in the Island Health region. That brings the provincial death total over the course of the pandemic to 2,975.
Also as of Wednesday, the total number of cases in British Columbia over the course of the pandemic has reached 354,603.
As for the Province’s total vaccination program, B.C. has now administered a total of 11,458,133 doses of COVID-19 immunizations.
Health officials say that equates to first doses for 93.8 per cent of all eligible adult British Columbians and 93.4 per cent of all eligible people 12 and older.
In addition, 91.4 per cent of all eligible adults have received their second dose, totalling 3,953,391 residents and 58.9 per cent of the population has received a third dose (2,549,120 people).
