B.C. reports 2,150 new cases of COVID-19, 354 in Island Health

Health officials in B.C. have announced 2,150 new cases of COVID-19, and 15 new deaths.

There are 354 new cases in Island Health, with 2,104 active cases in the region.

There are 34,835 active cases in B.C., with 891 COVID-positive people in hospital and 119 in intensive care.

Four of the new deaths were in Island Health, five in Fraser Health, four in Vancouver Coastal Health, and two in Interior Health.

There are eight new healthcare facility outbreaks, including three in Island Health at Fir Park Village, The Summit and Parkwood Court. There are now 22 active healthcare outbreaks in Island Health.

There are 58 healthcare outbreaks in the province.

From Jan. 12-18, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 27 per cent of cases.

From Jan. 5-18, they accounted for 31 per cent of hospitalizations.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 10,276,540 doses of COVID vaccines.

As of Jan. 20, 89.4 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.5 per cent have received their second dose.

In Fraser Health there are 576 new cases, 454 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 563 in Interior Health, 203 in Northern Health and no new cases in people who normally reside outside Canada.
