B.C. records 974 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, 25 in Island Health

25 new cases in Island Health were recorded over the last three days

British Columbia health officials have reported 974 new COVID-19 cases since their last update on May 21, 2021.

The number of confirmed cases in B.C. is now at 142,347 while the death toll climbs to 1,679 with 12 new deaths.

Of the new cases, 157 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 630 were in Fraser Health, 25 were in Island Health, 117 were in Interior Health, and were in 44 Northern Health. There is also one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada.

There are currently 3,953 active cases in the province, 292 people in hospital — 96 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 136,603 people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 while more than 2 million doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.
