British Columbians will soon be able to book camping sites at provincial parks using a brand new online reservation system.

B.C. government says their redesigned online reservation service website, camping.bcparks.ca, is now available to the public and camping sites will be open for booking beginning at 7 a.m. on March 21.

Users of the new site will be able to create user accounts and save booking preferences prior to camping reservations becoming available for booking.

“Providing a more reliable, responsive and easy-to-use reservation service will better meet the needs of people wanting to access and connect with nature by easily identifying available camping opportunities in provincial parks,” said George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

Camping sites will be available for reservation two months ahead of the desired arrival date at most campgrounds, the province says. Reservations for group campsites open March 24 and reservations for the popular Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit open in early April.

The provincial government says the new reservation site will provide individuals with improved search options such as a map to search campgrounds by region, park listing or site availability. It also includes information on nearby facilities and large photos of campsites, as well as an interactive calendar that shows when booked sites will become available.

Over the next three years, BC Parks is planning to spend $21.5 million to expand and enhance “opportunities for outdoor recreation” by adding new campsites and trails and upgrading facilities.

A detailed list of campground operating dates and reservable dates can be found at https://bcparks.ca/operating-dates/.
