Of the new cases, 341 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 632 were in Fraser Health, 64 in Island Health, 105 in Interior Health, and 26 in Northern Health.

There are currently a record-high 397 people currently in hospital, 120 of whom are in intensive care.

When it comes to active cases, there are 9,821 of them throughout the province, while 16,304 people are currently under active public health monitoring due to possible exposure to an identified case.

On a positive note, 103,360 people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 and 1,190,832 doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.

Island Health

According to the latest information available on the BCCDC’s dashboard, there are currently 537 active coronavirus cases on Vancouver Island — a decrease of 14 cases since the last update on April 13.

Nineteen people are currently hospitalized due to the coronavirus — six of whom are in critical care. The number of people in critical care has ticked up slightly in the past 24 hours.

A total of 187 people on Vancouver Island have been hospitalized after becoming infected with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

In the past 24 hours, 1,316 tests for COVID-19 have been conducted in the region.

Data on new cases by age group for Island Health was disclosed after not being displayed on the BCCDC’s website yesterday.

Meanwhile, Island Health reported 470 active cases on Vancouver Island in its latest dashboard update.

Of those active cases, 253 are in the South Island, 180 are in Central Island, and 37 are in the North Island.

The total number of cases identified on Vancouver Island stands at 4,125 cases while 3,567 people have recovered and 33 people have died, according to Island Health.

However, BCCDC’s data puts the total number of cases recorded on the Island at 4,146.

It’s worth noting that Island Health’s data often lags behind the BCCDC’s data due to a “difference in timing of reporting across laboratory and public health data sources.”
