One suspect is in custody and another one is being sought after an armed robbery in Oak Bay last weeK.

Police say they were alerted to the crime on Friday.

The occupant of an apartment on the 2000-block of Oak Bay Avenue says the two suspects entered the residence on Wednesday trying to sell them some items.

After telling the men that they weren’t interested in the items, the victim says one of them pulled out what appeared to be a 9 mm handgun.

Police report that various items were stolen along with a credit card and a debit card.

The victim says the suspect with the gun stayed, while the other suspect went to an ATM to withdraw money.

“A robbery at gun point is not a common offence in Oak Bay, however, it is important to note that this was a targeted event” said Oak Bay Police Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.

Police aren’t offering further details, but say one suspect has already been arrested and they believe another one is imminent.

“I’m very pleased with the investigation conducted by our officers which led to a swift arrest of one of the suspects and a probable second arrest in the very near future,” said Bernoties.
