An ancient turtle fossil found in Courtenay is evidence of a new species which roamed with the dinosaurs of ancient B.C.

Found in a river south of Courtenay, the 75 million year old turtle shell is being studied by scientists at the Royal BC Museum.  Palaeontology Collections Manager, Derek Larson is about to release a scientific paper which proves the turtle is new to science and needs a name.
