Alex Newhook discusses U-18 National Team snub

WATCH: As a highly touted NHL prospect, you don’t hear the words “you’re cut” too often, but that was the case for Victoria Grizzlies captain Alex Newhook at Team Canada U-18 camp last week.

Newhook, who is currently projected to go in the Top-3 of next year’s NHL Entry Draft, was hoping to represent his country at the upcoming Hlinka Gretzky U-18 World Championships, which feature the best young talent from across the globe.

However, Newhook wasn’t given much feedback on his efforts and was sent home packing. Newhook will now focus on the upcoming BCHL season with the Grizzlies, a crucial one for the Newfoundland product as he looks to maintain his draft status.
