With all the changes to everyday life brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is easy to get caught up in the complications or the stressors being felt by many Vancouver Islanders.

It’s a time when the little things can go a long way and a simple photo can tell an incredible story or send a warm message.

Here is a collection of positive photos, sent to CHEK News over the past week from our viewers, of people adjusting to and embracing the current situation!

Message of hope – Michael

Always nice when you are out for a stroll and you stumble upon some encouraging words. Vancouver Island knows we will get through this pandemic together.

Message of hope – Janet

Hard to miss this heart on the streets of Colwood. Some impressive work with a simple message.

Celebrating 60 years – James

COVID-19 can’t stop celebrating a milestone marker! This couple hit 60 years of marriage and in order to celebrate their anniversary, they got some take out fish and chips and headed to their backyard.

Time for tea – Tracy

You can never go wrong with a tea party. Enough said.

Feel the love – Joanne

This sign was spotted this week outside the Cridge Centre for the Family in Victoria. Staff at the centre say children regularly visit with the seniors for activities, games, songs and special events. With social distancing measures in place, a normal routine isn’t possible, so in order to let the seniors know how they were feeling, some children decided to hang these banners in order to send some love!

Jam session – Kathleen

This impromptu jam session broke out on Lang Street in Victoria as neighbours of all ages, and with a variety of instruments, came together to produce some sweet tunes.

Hands across the country – Doug and Patty

This colorful piece of art has made its way all across the country, starting in Halifax and landing here in Victoria. Along the way, every family member including children, grandchildren and spouses, left their handprint so a part of them can all be together in isolation.

Meet Hollie – Corey

This is Hollie and she is as adorable as they come. She is said to be one of the volunteer helpers at the Goldstream Food Bank and clearly is taking extra precautions during the pandemic to stay safe.

Social distancing in style – Liz

This is one of the more creative ways to socially distance. Efficient use of the trunk space!
