A B.C. boy got a special birthday surprise when he went to the Coldplay concert in Vancouver on Saturday and was brought on stage by singer Chris Martin.

Ten-year-old Leo Toevs had floor seats to the Coldplay concert for his birthday, and he made a sign to get the singer’s attention.

“The sign said ‘It’s my birthday and my first concert.'” Toevs told CHEK News. “I was on my dad’s shoulders and I had my poster and I had a big smile.”

Martin spotted the sign and brought Toevs up on stage.

“He was reading everyone’s posters and he just said ‘That young man in the crowd, can you please come up?'” Toevs recalled. “And then he just made a song from the top of his head!”

The song was shared on Instagram has been liked 802K times, as of Thursday evening.

Then on the Seabus ride home, some fellow concert-goers recognized Leo and sang the chorus to him.

Overall, it was an experience Toevs says he won’t soon forget.

“I was so surprised and I was so excited,” Toevs said. “A dream come true.”
