The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has launched a review of a police arrest that took place in Saanich last month.
According to the IIO, the information they are investigating occurred on May 20 at approximately 11:00 p.m. along the Lochside Trail.
Saanich Police say that officers responded to a call regarding a reported altercation involving a man with a weapon.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a man on a wooden bridge on the Lochside Trail between Saanich Road and Quadra Street.
A report suggests that an interaction occurred and a police service dog with the Integrated Canine Service was used to assist in the arrest.

The man on the wooden bridge sustained a dog bite injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The IIO has launched an investigation to determine the details of the arrest leading up to the dog bite.
