The Saanich Police Department has arrested an “agitated” suspect who uttered threats towards passengers onboard a BC Transit bus.

The incident took place on March 2 at approximately 8:30 a.m., according to Saanich PD.

Officers say they responded to a call about a person on a BC Transit bus who had made “threatening statements” to some of the passengers onboard.

During the incident, the transit operator stopped the bus and all the passengers managed to get off safely, police noted in a report.

The suspect, however, remained on the bus and continued being aggressive. Police were informed that the suspect was banging on the divider protecting the driver as well.

Police highlighted that this particular individual had an outstanding warrant for an unprovoked assault at a bus stop in Saanich in December, while also having a record of two assaults on transit buses in Saanich and Victoria in January.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing charges for Mischief and Uttering Threats, linked to the incident on March 2.
