Those looking for a Papa burger on Ryan Road in Courtenay will have to look somewhere else as the A&W restaurant temporarily closes its doors after a team member tested positive for COVID-19.
In a post on social media, the restaurant says Island Health confirmed on Thursday evening that an employee had tested positive.
“The exposure took place within our establishment on Sunday, February 21 between the hours of 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.,” said the A&W, located at 581-C Ryan Road.
Although the restaurant says the majority of our staff are deemed low-risk by Public Health, the restaurant is closing to allow all team members to monitor for symptoms at home as an extra precautionary measure.
Public Health has initiated contact tracing to identify anyone who has had a high-risk exposure. These individuals have been directly contacted by Public Health for further guidance, says the restaurant.
“Due to our extensive COVIC-19 protocols carried out by our team members within the restaurant, this exposure is believed to have no risk to you,” says the Courtenay A&W to its patrons.
Island Health has not deemed this incident on its COVID-19 Exposures list on the health authority’s website.
