Western Forest Products (WFP)  and the union representing thousands of striking workers are back at the table for mediation.

That’s according to the United Steel Workers Local 1-1937  website Thursday.

Both parties have agreed to a media blackout, and no further details will be released until an “agreement is reached”.

Nearly 3,000 forestry workers have been on strike since July 1.

The action affects Western’s six Island manufacturing plants and timberland operations.

The union has said WFP wants its members to accept 24 concessions despite the company making record profits.

WFP said its proposal provides for wage increases and many benefit enhancements aligned with the rest of the forest sector.
