Man arrested after BC Transit driver assaulted and robbed in Central Saanich

Police say the assault and robbery happened at Keating Cross Road and Central Saanich Road.

Police say a man has been charged after a BC Transit driver was assaulted and robbed in Central Saanich Monday night.

At around 8 p.m., a passenger in his 30s allegedly approached a bus driver at Keating Cross Road and Central Saanich Road, assaulted the driver and demanded the driver’s wallet.

Police said the driver was not physically injured during the robbery.

“A suspect was located shortly after receiving the report with the assistance of several members of the public,” Central Saanich Deputy Chief Derren Lench said in a statement.

Jordan David Tahouney was arrested. He appeared in court Tuesday and was charged with robbery. Police said he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

The driver’s wallet was recovered, police said.
