Victoria’s Nick Pivetta gets no run support in loss to Jays

CHEK

WATCH: A rough second inning ended up being the difference for Victoria’s Nick Pivetta, as he pitched five innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays this afternoon in Philadelphia.

After a walk, a base hit and two wild pitches put runners on second and third base in the second inning, Pivetta surrendered a two-run double to Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis, which would end up being the only runs Pivetta would surrender.

The Lambrick Park Secondary grad was pulled from the game after five innings of work, striking out seven batters over his start, with the decision being a loss.

The Blue Jays would go on to win the game 5-3, for Pivetta, a tough loss given the Phillies didn’t give him much to work with offensively as his record falls to 4-3 with a respectable ERA of 3.26.
