A 27-year-old man from Nanaimo is facing one count of attempted murder following an incident that saw another man stabbed several times March 31.

Matthew Dean Tremblay was in provincial court Tuesday and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

Tremblay will be in court by video April 17.

Police say the 25-year-old victim is recovering in hospital and is expected to stay there for another week.

The investigation is still ongoing and Nanaimo RCMP is not releasing any more details.
