7-Eleven Canada notifies Ladysmith, BC of COVID-19 case at local store

7-Eleven Canada said there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the 434 Esplanade Ave. store in Ladysmith.

According to 7-Eleven Canada, the store has been temporarily closed for a thorough clean and sanitization. The store is scheduled to reopen on April 2, 2020.

Store staff are self-isolating with pay for 14 days. Any customers who may have visited the store between March 5 to March 11 is asked to monitor themselves for symptoms and contact their healthcare provider or HealthLink 811 with any questions.

“7-Eleven Canada has connected with local health authorities to determine next steps and will provide further updates whenever possible,” the company said in a statement.

B.C. health officials said Thursday there were 22 COVID-19 cases in the Island Health region. A Courtenay doctor has confirmed one is in the Comox Valley. And the University of Victoria said in a statement one of its students was a positive case.
