A magnitude 4.5-earthquake struck northwest of Vancouver Island Friday night around 11:30 p.m.

Earthquakes Canada says it hit around 146 kilometres west of Port Alice.

The Unites States Geological Survey reports the quake as a 4.7 that was at a depth of 10 kilometres.

There have been no reports of damage or shaking, as expected with smaller quakes. No tsunami warning was issued.

Natural Resources Canada seismologist John Cassidy says it is most likely related to the multiple 6.0 and above quakes took place on the night of Oct 21 in the same area.

It also comes the same day a powerful 7.0 earthquake hit Anchorage Alaska and briefly resulted in a Tsunami warning being issued for some coastal zones.

The 7.0 resulted in significant infrastructure damage and was followed by a 5.7 magnitude aftershock.
