Nanaimo RCMP say one person is dead following a single vehicle crash south of the Harbour City Thursday.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. along Cinnabar Drive, where a vehicle reportedly drove over an embankment.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
Despite first aid provided by first responders, the driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in the crash, according to the Nanaimo RCMP.
Drivers are being told to detour around Cinnabar Drive on Thursday afternoon as police continue to examine the scene.
The BC Coroners Service is also conducting its own investigation into the driver’s death.
Anyone with information on the crash, or who may have dashcam video of the incident, is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
