Oyster River fire crews were called to a shed fire on Jan. 2, 2024.

Oyster River Fire Department’s first “big fire” of the year was a workshop in Black Creek on Tuesday morning.

The workshop on Robin Road caught fire, and Bruce Green, the fire chief, says the owner was in their home when they heard the workshop catch fire.

“When we got here the owner said they were in the house and heard an explosion in the shop which made them look outside and saw that was fully involved,” Green said. “When I showed up on scene the the fire was fully involved.”

Green says it is too early to determine the cause of the fire. He says there were no injuries as there was no one in the workshop at the time.

There were propane tanks in the workshop.

Green says this is the first big fire of the year and his crews are “doing a great job, they got here quick and knocked it down fairly quickly.”
