Longtime Saanich councillor and CRD Director, Vic Derman has died at the age of 72.
Derman was first elected to Saanich Council in 2002 and has served on the CRD Board since 2005.
District of Saanich Mayor Richard Atwell issued the following statement Sunday:
?This is a profound loss for Saanich and tragic news for our community.”
“Vic engaged with people in a way that made them feel important and heard. He was a passionate steward and advocate for the environment, and always worked towards making the world a better place. In that regard, Vic led by example ? something for all of us to aspire to.”
A cause of death has not yet been released.
