Road to Recovery: Economic recovery and growth focus of Rising Economy Week 2021

CHEK

In this week’s episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala sits down with Emilie de Rosenroll, CEO of South Island Prosperity Partnership.

South Island Prosperity Partnership works to boost Greater Victoria’s economic and social prosperity by bringing about the creation of high quality, household-sustaining jobs that would allow more families to afford living and working in the region. It’s an alliance of more than 70 public and private-sector partners in the region, including First Nations, post-secondary institutions, local governments, and organizations and businesses.

When the pandemic hit, the South Island Prosperity Partnership brought hundreds of stakeholders from across dozens of sectors together in a task force to address the economic issues rising from the global pandemic. The task force’s mission was to create a plan to accelerate economic recovery while building resiliency against future economic shocks. The result of that was Reboot, an action plan that was implemented last summer.

The success of this collaboration prompted the idea for a free weeklong annual conference, Rising Economy Week, that brings together leaders to discuss strategic approaches to economic recovery and growth.

The South Island Prosperity Partnership is presenting the second annual Rising Economy Week this year, running from Nov. 22 to Nov. 25. Registration can be done online here.

De Rosenroll explains in this segment what the goal of the conference is, how people can participate, and what’s come out of the Reboot action plan so far.

Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
