Ethan Morneau is a Digital News Editor at CHEK News and is thrilled to be reporting on beautiful Vancouver Island.

He enjoys crafting stories of all types, including feature stories, with the peacocks at Beacon Hill Park and the secret basements under Victoria sidewalks being some of his favourites for TV so far.

Ethan, from Niagara, Ont., moved to the Island in 2019, joining Campbell River’s 99.7 The River (Vista Radio) as Reporter and On-Air Host. He eventually transitioned to News Anchor for the weekday news broadcasts. A few years later, he made the move to Victoria, where he was Senior Reporter at Victoria Buzz prior to joining CHEK.

A Jack Webster fellowship recipient, Ethan studied Investigative Journalism at Florida’s Poynter Institute. He also attended Niagara College for Broadcasting, Brock University for Media and Sheridan College for Bachelor of Photography.

At 19, he won a Readers’ Choice Award for his graphic design work. Around this time, he worked the social media channels for various Bell Media radio stations in Niagara.

When not in the CHEK newsroom, find Ethan out dining, at the movie theatre, or with a camera in hand, capturing the Island’s beauty.
