Nanaimo RCMP are looking for two men who allegedly beat a man and woman with baseball bats on Saturday.

Police said the attack reportedly took place near Diver Lake, off of Labieux Road, and was reported at approximately 1 p.m.

Nanaimo RCMP were called to the area after a 39-year-old woman went to a local business and told an employee that two unknown men had went to her nearby tent and without any provocation, began striking her and her 51-year-old male friend with bats that the two suspects had brought with them.

The woman told police she did recognize either of the suspects and they had shown up in an orange newer-model car. The assault reportedly lasted for several minutes before the two suspects drove off in an unknown direction.

Paramedics were also called and took both the 39-year-old woman and the 51-year-old man to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, which were consistent with being struck with a large blunt object.

The first suspect is described by police as a Caucasian man, 25 to 35-years-old, heavy set, with dark hair and a goatee. He was wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described by police as a Caucasian man, 25 to 35-years-old, heavy set with a dark beard. He had a black bandana covering the lower half of his face.
