The truck tipped on its side, on Union Road in Saanich

A tree in Saanich fell and caused a moving pickup truck to be wrapped in powerlines Sunday— tipping the vehicle on its side.

The truck was travelling down Union Road when the driver noticed the tree waving back and forth.

As the truck drove towards the swaying tree it reportedly fell and caused the nearby power lines to fall.

The driver, his passenger and his dog all escaped serious injury.

“[The truck] dragged the power line with it, and the wires got caught up in the truck… [the driver] seemed okay, they crawled out the back window,” said Andrea Bates, a flagger for Domcor.

The road is blocked off and crews are on the scene, evaluating how to remove the tree and lines.
