Weather alert issued for the North Island, more snow expected

Residents in the North Island will have a chilly Sunday morning, as more snow is expected to fall before noon.

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for the North end of the Island. In the wake of a cold front, snow will gradually ease this morning with further amounts up to 5 cm expected.

Early this morning, the Drive BC highway cameras show snow blanketing the roadways with a light layer of powder. The roads are now mostly cleared.

Back in February, a snowstorm hit Vancouver Island with gusto, from Campbell River to Victoria. Most of the Island was under a weather warning for the Family Day long weekend.
