A driver from Victoria who almost collided with a fuel tanker was arrested for impaired driving last week after someone recorded the near miss on a dashcam.
At 7:49 a.m. on March 22, Sooke RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver going west on Sooke Road. Police were told the vehicle was going toward Connie Road, was swerving from one side of the road to the other and almost struck a fuel tanker truck going east.
The complainant recorded the driver on their dashcam.
RCMP stopped the vehicle as it entered a construction zone near Harbourview Road. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested. Police searched the vehicle and found meth and drug paraphernalia.
A 44-year-old man from Victoria is facing charges of dangerous driving, impaired driving and possession of a controlled substance. He was released on a promise to appear in provincial court on June 28.
