Cpl. Heinz Krauss with the West Shore RCMP said a lone driver went off the road into the house.
“It appears the driver had a medical event. He was taken to hospital and received treatment.
Police said there is a natural gas leak in the home that was struck by the vehicle. Hydro lines were been damaged.
Krauss said three people were home at the time of the crash: a mother and two daughters.
“The mother and the youngest daughter were actually in the living room when the truck entered the living room,” Krauss said. He added they were not struck by any debris or the vehicle.
FortisBC says a gas metre was hit in the crash, which then led to a gas leak. Crews were able to complete repairs.
Residents in the immediate vicinity were evacuated and Sooke Road was closed in the area until just around 5:30 p.m. Traffic on Sooke Road was being diverted through Happy Valley Road and Luxton Road.
