A B.C. man says visits to some “nice beaches” may be in his future after he won a whopping $58-million lottery prize.

Hao Ping Chung, from Richomnd, won the massive “Gold Ball Jackpot” prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 6.

It’s the first time that someone has won the Gold Ball prize since it was first introduced in 2022, according to the BC Lottery Corporation.

Chung says it was pure chance that he won the prize, since he bought the ticket on a whim.

“I saw a big jackpot and bought a ticket,” he said in a release Friday.

“I was at home when I found out I won,” he recalled. “When I logged on to my PlayNow.com account I saw the balance. It didn’t feel real! I tried to withdraw the funds to see if it was actually there.”

Chung says his parents were some of the first people he contacted about his big win.

“They were surprised and asked if it was a scam,” he said.

The B.C. man says he’s not totally sure what he’ll do with his winnings yet, but he plans to learn guitar and travel, like to the aforementioned “nice beaches.”

In the meantime, he says it “still feels unreal” to become an overnight millionaire.
