Mounties on Vancouver Island are on the hunt for a Mazda 3 sedan that was involved in a brutal hit and run in Oyster River over the weekend.

According to the Campbell River RCMP, a male was intentionally run over near the Discovery Foods in Oyster River at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 18.

CHEK News has been told that a man and woman walked to a bus stop on Glenmore Road, located across from the plaza where Discovery Foods is located. Moments later, as they crossed the road again, a silver car, believed to be a four-door Mazda travelling towards Highway 19A appears to have veered directly towards the pair, striking the man.

On Thursday, Campbell River RCMP announced that the suspect vehicle is a 2011 Mazda 3 or one of a similar year that likely has sustained front-end damage and a cracked windshield.

Mounties say they are looking for the vehicle and are asking anyone who saw a Mazda 3 or similarly designed vehicle with similar damage to contact them immediately at 250-286-6221. They are also seeking dash-camera footage of the area at the time of the incident.
