Man in Santa hat robs bank at Terminal Park Mall in Nanaimo

Suspect of Nanaimo bank robbery Monday afternoon at the Bank of Montreal located at the Terminal Park Mall.

Nanaimo RCMP are trying to catch a bank robber who took off from Terminal Park Mall with an undisclosed amount of cash Monday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened around 2:10 p.m., when a lone male, wearing a Santa hat, approached a Bank of Montreal teller and indicated he had a weapon and demanded cash.

The suspect was last seen running north through the parking lot and police say he discarded much of the clothing he was wearing including the hat, leather jacket, gloves and sunglasses.

All of the items have been seized by officers at the scene.

RCMP describes the suspect as a 40 to 50-year-old white male, 5’8″ tall with a medium build with a brown and grey goatee and wearing a Castles and Crooks hoody.

Anyone with information or who can identify the suspect is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
