BC Hydro says power has been restored to most of its customers after an earlier outage that was caused due to a bird hitting wires.

The outage affected 1,560 BC Hydro customers and started at 6:33 a.m. Shortly after 8 a.m., BC Hydro updated that the outage was only affecting five customers.

Some on social media say traffic lights were out in the area as well, resulting in the lights flashing red. After BC Hydro said the power was restored, it was reported the traffic lights were back on as well.

According to DriveSmartBC, when lights are flashing red in an intersection, drivers must come to a complete stop at the marked line, or before entering the intersection if it is not marked, and only proceed when it is safe to do so.
