Bullet holes seen in a vehicle on Prideaux Street in Nanaimo

A man in his early 50’s is facing three charges in relation to shots fired into a car in Nanaimo Saturday.

Curtis Arthur Gaskell is accused of possessing a firearm without licence or registration, occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm is present and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Witnesses say they heard two gunshots in rapid succession shortly after six o’clock Saturday morning before a car sped off.

A white car on Prideaux Street was hit by buckshot. No one was injured.

Nanaimo RCMP say they soon after pulled over a car suspected to be involved and found a loaded shotgun.

He set to appear in provincial court Monday for a bail hearing.
