The Central Saanich Police Department has released that a man from Greater Victoria is facing multiple child pornography charges, following the execution of a search warrant.

The Central Saanich Police Department says a man from Greater Victoria is facing multiple child pornography charges after a search warrant was carried out.

According to a press release issued on Friday, Central Saanich Police said that Christopher Michael Wakefield was charged with four counts including possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, transmit, distribute, sell, import or export child pornography and careless storage of a firearm.

Police said that the warrant – executed back on February 7, 2020 – was carried out in a joint effort by Central Saanich police and the Greater Victoria Mobile Youth Services Team.

The search led to the discovery of “child abuse material and a firearm,” all of which were seized during the process.

The BC Prosecution Service recently approved the four charges on Aug. 20.

Wakefield is not in custody but is now living under a number of conditions.

Wakefield is not able to go to any park public swimming area, theatre, community centre, daycare, school grounds, or playground where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can be expected to be present.

Wakefield is also not allowed to communicate with any person under 16 years old, engage in a relationship with someone who has children under the age of 16 or work/volunteer in a position that would bring him in contact with someone under the age of 16.

Wakefield’s next court appearance is Oct. 5, 2020.
