2 taken to hospital after single-vehicle crash on Highway 19

Two people were sent to the hospital Friday after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 19 north of Parksville.

BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) said it received a call at 11:41 a.m. PDT for a single-vehicle crash on Highway 19 southbound between Corcan Road and Church Road.

Both ground and air ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene, according to BC EHS.

One patient was transported by a ground ambulance to a hospital, while a second patient was cared for by the BC EHS Critical Care Team prior to being airlifted to another hospital for a higher level of care.

RCMP are investigating the crash.

Drive BC said the right lane of Highway 19 southbound between Corcan Road and Church Road (eight kilometres north of Parksville) is closed. Drivers should expect major delays and watch for traffic control.
