The City of Colwood’s annual Eats & Beats Beach Party is returning this summer, with Juno award-winning Vancouver band Said the Whale headlining the event.

Alongside Said the Whale, four other local bands will be playing including New Groovement, Downtown Mischief, and OK Charlie. The fifth band will be announced on July 5.

The free event will offer a craft beer garden, food truck festival, street market, live music and more.

At least 40 vendors will be at the event serving a wide range of options including Greek, Mexican, and Filipino foods. Some of the vendors include Deadbeetz Food Truck,  Kattia’s Kitchen, Greek on the Street, L’Authentique Poutine and Burgers, and Mama Rosie’s Food Truck.

The Victoria Beer Society will also be offering beachside drink service featuring a variety of beers and ciders.

Some of the free activities at the event include a climbing wall and kayaking. West Shore Bikes will also be onsite for people to try out e-bikes.

Ocean Boulevard will be close to through traffic for the event, but some parking will still be available. Eat & Beats will also be offering an all-day shuttle from the Park & Ride parking lot. People are encouraged to walk and bike to the event, and bike racks will be available. Organizers say people can kayak or canoe to the event if they desire.

The last Eats & Beats was in 2019, where the city estimated that 8,000 people attended the event. The event took a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Eat & Beats takes place on July 30, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lagoon Beach.
