Flights are back to normal after a police presence took place at the Comox Valley Airport when a suspicious package was found on board an airplane.
Flights were cancelled when members from Canadian Forces Comox and Comox Valley RCMP investigated early Friday morning, but the situation cleared around 9:30 a.m.
Airport CEO Fred Bigelow said the small bag that was left on board the Air Canada Dash 8 plane last night that caused the concern turned out to be the same bag a woman had called to report she had lost.
Passengers unloaded the Air Canada plane that was scheduled to depart for Vancouver at 6 a.m. Friday, but were able to depart shortly after the stand down was ordered.
Another disruption happened for a Pacific Coastal flight, where passengers were bused to Campbell River for their trip to Vancouver.
Bigelow says a 5:50 am WestJet flight took off before crews realized an investigation was underway.
All arriving and departing flights are listed as on time from the Comox Valley Airport for the rest of the day.
