Beban Park COVID-19 immunization clinic temporarily closed

A Nanaimo COVID-19 immunization clinic has temporarily closed to allow for changes to the space.

The Beban Park Social Centre COVID-19 immunization clinic has closed Friday to allow for planned maintenance and a transition to a new space in the auditorium, according to an announcement from Island Health Thursday.

Island Health says people planning to drop in for their first or second dose can visit the Vax Van at the Nanaimo Canadian Tire at 4585 Uplands Dr. between 1 and 6 p.m.

The Beban Park Social Centre will reopen for vaccination appointments and walk-ins on Aug. 28, according to Island Health.

They say its hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Aug. 31 and then will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays starting Sept. 1.

Island Health says the clinic will be closed Sundays and Mondays.

The Island Health Vax Van will also be at the following locations in Nanaimo, according to Island Health:

  • Saturday, August 28: Nanaimo Port Place Mall at 650 Terminal Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 29: Nanaimo Quality Foods at 867 Bruce Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
