If you’ve ever had the near-impossible desire to be turned into a cardboard cutout and be placed into an empty hockey stadium as a ‘fan,’ you are in luck.

The Vancouver Canucks have launched a new initiative that allows fans to be a fixture at Rogers Arena for the remainder of the 2021 NHL season, by converting a photo of themselves into a human-sized cardboard supporter.

Picture it as almost like the exact opposite of that Matthew McConaughey Super Bowl commercial from this year, where a 2-D version of the famed actor gains a dimension.

“The 2021 season is not quite the same since you, the fans, are not here to attend in person. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be here in body (well, sort of) and spirit, supporting your Canucks in the final stretch of this very unusual season,” reads a statement on the Vancouver Canucks website.

Canucks supporters can visit the online hub, submit a photo of themselves and choose one of five different Canucks jerseys to be printed on the cutout.

The initiative has a charitable component as well, as fans who are interested in getting an in-stadium cardboard cutout of themselves will be charged $125 or $99 for season ticket holders, with all proceeds going towards the Canucks for Kids Fund.

Fans who purchase a cardboard cutout will also receive a $50 gift card to purchase meals or merchandise from Vanbase or Canucks Marketplace.

And yes, the cutout will be sent to you following the season by the organization.

As far as visibility goes, some cardboard cutouts may be featured during TV broadcasts, however, they will not be visible during play due to broadcast reasons. The hockey organization says photos will be taken of each section and posted online for fans to locate their cutout and download.

The Vancouver Canucks say orders placed by April 13 will be installed in seats before the team’s return to the ice on April 16, otherwise, oders placed after that time, will be installed on a weekly basis.
