BC Ferries cancelled two sailings between Victoria and Vancouver on Wednesday morning, and says two more sailings are at risk of cancellation, amid strong winds in the area.
In a notice posted shortly after 9 a.m., BC Ferries said the 10 a.m. sailing departing from Tsawwassen and the noon sailing departing from Swartz Bay were cancelled.
The company added that the 2 p.m. sailing departing from Tsawwassen and 4 p.m. sailing departing from Swartz Bay were also at risk of cancellation due to the weather.
On Wednesday morning, Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Wind gusts of up to 90 km/h were expected to sweep the region throughout the morning, before easing around noon.
The weather office said the strong winds are expected to weaken in the afternoon as they head inland. By 12:45 p.m., the alert was lifted.
